nomodeset

The nomodeset parameter prevents the kernel from loading video driver and use BIOS modes instead until X-Windows is started. It does have no side effects beside a less beautiful screen output during the boot process.

• in line with starting with linux /boot/<kernel-image> root=UUID=<uuid> ro, add nomodeset after ro

setting nomodeset permanently for Grub boot loader

• Add option nomodeset to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub, i.e. GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset"
